KEELBOAT
Keelboats are considered small to medium sized vessels; they generally start at about twenty feet and can be as large as thirty feet in length. This sailboat gets its name from the keel, which is the vertical fin beneath the boat. The keel is weighted to counterbalance the force of the wind in the sails.

The basic keelboat is outfitted with a mast and a jib and has a tiller steering system. The keelboats we will be sailing are equipped with a small gear storage area beneath the deck. Between one and five people can sit comfortably in the keelboat. These boats are stable, fully accessible, and allow for a fun day on the water for everyone, from the beginning sailor to the experienced Skipper.
