This past semester has been very active! Currently, we have nearly 1400 students with disabilities registered in the system and more than 500 employer contacts. Career Gateway now provides all of our students access to a greater number of job openings through the NACELink Extended Job database. The extended database is in addition to the job postings that appear specifically on Career Gateway. Once you have logged into Career Gateway, click on the “Jobs” tab and then select “NACELink Extended Job Search” to access thousands of additional jobs. Job posted to Career Gateway specifically can be viewed by clicking on “CSM Jobs.” In either option, you are able to search for jobs specific to your own criteria. Students and employers alike have many more opportunities that just a year ago. And to prove just how many, Career Gateway itself provided more than 750 job postings in 2009!For employers, resume books are also available for those who request them through Crystal. Based on your criteria, she can create a resume book that is updated in “real time” for a current and accurate listing of students you want to find anytime you access it. For students, it is vital to keep an updated resume in Career Gateway if you have allowed access to your resume.
Our professional partners at more than 600 institutions of higher education can use Career Gateway as an important tool also. A demo student log-in is available for you to become more familiar with the system and explore all of its functionality. By doing so, you will be better equipped to refer students to Career Gateway and answer any initial questions your students may have. To experience all that Career Gateway has to offer, it is important for all users to update their profile when necessary, for students to upload their updated resume and for everyone to visit Career Gateway often. Job postings, additional employer contacts and student registrations are added daily.
