Future

Growth of COSD has been exponential in approximately 10 years through finding individuals at higher education institutions and corporations with a commitment to the issue of career employment for college students and recent graduates with disabilities.  Along with the commitment, it is important to have the resources and expertise that person brings with them.

Along with the continued growth of COSD, a number of exciting tools have been created to assist in the outreach to professionals in higher education, at employers and college students and recent graduates with disabilities.  These include Career Gateway and FULL ACCESS.  Further plans are to expand the offering of products and services to professionals.  Planning is underway to develop a web portal of information, initially focused on Career Services professionals to assist them in working most effectively with college students and recent graduates with disabilities.  The planning brought together prominent researchers, practitioners at universities, government agencies and specialty organizations to formulate the most informative, easy-to-use resource available to Career Services.  By natural extension, the portal will be expanded to include information for Disability Services professionals and Employers.

This information portal is the first step of a plan to develop a COSD Research Institute that will disseminate original research by COSD staff and from other prominent national and international researchers.  COSD is committed to ensuring that correct and useful information about the critical population of college students and recent graduates with disabilities seeking career employment is available to all professionals in the field.
